Dr. George Tiller Shot to Death

Abortion provider, Dr. George Tiller was shot to death in the foyer of his church on 10am on Sunday. He was serving as an usher, distributing church bulletins and greeting people when a single bullet shot and killed him.

His wife, was seated with the church choir just inside when it happened. Dr. Tiller had previously been shot and wounded at his clinic, Women’s Health Care Services, in Wichita, KS. Dr. Tiller had long been considered a controversial figure for providing late-term abortions. The suspect Scott P. Roeder is expected to be charged today.

Susie Bright's blog features moving testimony from some of Dr. Tiller's former patients.  "Dr. Tiller is a true American hero," says one anonymous commenter.

It is utterly stupefying when a dumbass right-to-lifer decides the solution is killing someone. We are incredibly saddened by this and honor Dr. Tiller and the service he provided to the women of Kansas. Tonight there will be many vigils throughout the country for George Tiller. Faux News repeated a clip of

Faux News repeated a clip of a girl telling of her abortion performed by Tiller at age 14 ... It was pretty graphic - She said she was told to lean on a nurse and push her baby out into the toilet ... Hard to know if her account was true or if she just regrets her abortion and is being used as a puppet for an anti choice group.

If it is true, then I would say she didn't receive the appropriate care.

Regardless, these doctors are performing procedures that are either needed (due to the woman's or foetus medical condition) ... or because the woman is demanding it.

So long as there is a need or demand - LEGAL abortions are here to stay.

A friend had a semi late abortion ... her baby was found to have multiple abnormalities (at about 16 weeks) and was induced. In a million years my friend never dreamed she would have to face making a decision like that.

Xanadu, from what I've been

Xanadu, from what I've been reading about Dr. Tiller, it sounds like a bald-faced lie.

Faux News AND the mainstream media should provide balanced coverage on the topic of so called "partial birth" abortion. We're not talking about women who just wake up one morning and say, "Oops, I changed my mind."

Here's a letter a woman wrote to Obama during the election. It is every bit as graphic as the 14-year-old's story, but in this case, it is emotionally graphic and heart-breaking.

"We . . . honor Dr. Tiller

"We . . . honor Dr. Tiller and the service he provided to the women of Kansas."
Absolutely.

And it's time to treat these extremists as the domestic terrorists that they are. The wingnuts are going to try to portray Roeder as a lone nut, but too much of their rhetoric reeks of violence.

Tiller performed a legal service to women. He was a hero brought down by a coward who tried to run away.

Yeah, amazing how willing we

Yeah, amazing how willing we are as a nation to go after terrorists outside the US, but we're not willing to go after home-grown domestic terrorism groups right here in our own country.

I caught the story out in Toledo, OH. The mainstream media was pushing the "lone nut" story line from the start, making sure to have plenty of footage of anti-abortion types talking about how they oppose abortion, and how "shocked" they were about the shooting death of "the abortionist." They looked about as shocked as someone who just swatted a house fly.

Read Annie's link about Bill

Read Annie's link about Bill O below--it rightly points the finger at him whipping up hatred for Dr. Tiller.

Media Matters, Crooks and

Media Matters, Crooks and Liars, and Daily Kos have been all over the O'Reilly stuff too. They've also got clips of Palin refusing to call anti-choice bombers "domestic terrorists." http://crooksandliars.com/

Palin, Terry, and the rest are more concerned about how the murder will affect the anti-choice movement than anything else.

I knew there would be a way

I knew there would be a way to work Palin in (altho she had nothing whatsoever to do with Tiller's death)!

It's amazing, Rusty, how you have the uncanny ability to know exactly what Palin thinks...

I'm not a mind reader but I

I'm not a mind reader but I can see hypocrisy from my computer screen. Palin interjected herself into the debate by releasing a statement about Tiller's murder. Here's the part where she's concerned about how the murder will impact the anti abortion movement:

"This murder also damages the positive message of life, for the unborn, and for those living. Ask yourself, 'What will those who have not yet decided personally where they stand on this issue take away from today's event in Kansas?'"

After her statement the media re-released the interview in which she refused to label the nutjobs who attack clinics and abortion providers as "domestic terrorists."

NBC’s Brian Williams: Is an abortion clinic bomber a terrorist, under this definition, governor?

PALIN: (Sigh). There’s no question that Bill Ayers via his own admittance was one who sought to destroy our U.S. Capitol and our Pentagon. That is a domestic terrorist. There’s no question there. Now, others who would want to engage in harming innocent Americans or facilities that uh, it would be unacceptable. I don’t know if you’re going to use the word terrorist there.
