19 March: The Monday Mix: Catch Up on Your Culture

Good Monday to you, Vp'ers!

Last night was Murray Hills x-teenth Miss Lez Pageant, and it was wild! (Well, up until the point that the douches from The Real L Word showed up to film their "reality.") We'll have a write up, along with some AMAZING footage, ready for you by the week's end. But, I'd be remiss not to congratulate the "Wild Card" Chocha Libre, who was crowned Miss Lez last night. She ran on a platform of, what else?, freeing chochas around the world.

That witty webseries, The Slope, premiered episode three this morning. These dykes are so spot on it hurts:

Season 2, Episode 3: "Primary Care Giver" from The Slope on Vimeo.

I also can't get enough of Gloria Steinem, who showed up at Studio Q for a special radio show interview:

Oprah canned Rosie O'Donnell's show--was it too gay? That's what some people are wondering. How was "the gay" on Rosie's show different than that on Ellen's? Granted, Ro had some pretty vocal super-gay guest, such as one of  my favs, Kathy "oh-Kath-a-leeeeen!" Griffin:

Because I'm a hopeless romantic, I can't help but to post this TOTES ADORB video of two hockey dykes getting engaged.

Hope your vernal equinox rocked yesterday! Spring cometh--what's that, melting ice caps?

There are times I love hockey in Canada!

Too bad about O'Donnell's show (because I loved her chat with Kathy Griffin), but if lack of interesting guests was too do with the Chigaco location, that doesn't bode well for other OWN shows.

Minnie actually wrote a similar sentiment on my fb page, and some media (I think Slate? or maybe it was the Daily Beast) noted that celebrities don't go to Chicago to promote their work. They just don't. Poor Ro -- I feel it must've been hard to move to the midwest and to use O's staff....not to mention that her show was much gayer than Ellen's will ever be.
