Weekly Gleek: This is the Lesbian Sign

Let’s just cut to the chase—the best thing about this week’s episode of Glee was Naya Rivera. Naya singing, Naya acting, Naya dodgeballing. Naya posing for this campaign ad:

Did I mention Naya singing? And now that we know that gorgeous Adele mash-up was being performed right after Santana found out she’s about to be outed on local television, those angst-ridden looks she shares with Brittany (our future topless president) are all the more poignant. Let’s just watch it again right now.

Seeing Santana unravel on Finn at the end was amazing. I wouldn’t mind watching that slap over and over again, either. Can you guys believe Naya was originally hired just to look hot in the background?

Oh, how we love our lesbian cheerleaders. I hope everyone also caught the unbelievably sweet look Brittana shared over the piano when The Troubletones were trying to convince Santana to play nice with the other kids in the sandbox. Stop the violence!

While Santana is busy getting outed by Frankenteen Finn, Kurt is busy kicking ass on the school bullying front and making a stand for non-trash-talking campaigning. Though it may be a bit of a leap to equate dodgeball with “modern-day stoning”—pretty sure no one’s ever been dodgeballed to death—it’s still connecting to something real and genuinely brutal when we see how easily the “friendly game” among the two glee clubs devolves into viciousness, to the point where Rory the leprechaun is left bleeding while the girls just laugh. And seeing Rachel stand up for Kurt in the debate and throw her hat out of the ring in deference to his campaign and his friendship is awesome.

Wait, you say you have no memory of this scene past the point where Brittany promised to go topless on Tuesdays if elected? Completely understandable. Carry on.

Another highlight of this episode was the hilarious series of Sue Sylvester for Congress campaign ad spots.

I KNOOOOOW

I actually liked their versions of firework and teenage dream. but, yeah, overall I agree they've got an unnaturally big woodie for all things katy perry. and of all the songs they could pick to explore santana's coming out, they choose this stupid poser song? jill sobule is obviously the superior choice!

Jenny, did you get to see

Jenny, did you get to see Jill live in a free concert at the riverwalk in Providence when that song was popular? These two boys of about 12 talked to her before he show and she brought them up to sing the chorus to "The Homo Song" and they joined her but chickened out on the singing. It was cute.

sadly, no

the whole downtown revitalization thing was happening just as I was graduating from high school; so I didn't get to see much of the riverwalks. sounds awesome. tho I did have the opportunity to be a volunteer roadie for ani difranco when she came to lupo's and did a benefit concert for my queer youth group! we got our first office space because of that Smile

Ah, Lupo's. I saw Concrete

Ah, Lupo's. I saw Concrete Blonde there when I had no idea who they were but my cousin loved them. I also went to their new locale several years later for Patti Smith, which was naturally just magical. My ex and I used to go to a club that you would've been way too young to have ever frequented called The Rocket. It was a tiny dive of a place, owned by a gay man but not gay, just accepting of everyone. We used to see this local hardcore punk band there- Neutral Nation. Memories.

Let's not forget the Sarah

Let's not forget the Sarah McLachlan cover of 'River.' That was pretty gay, too.
