When I first heard Grace Sewell on an episode of NCIS: New Orleans I was hooked instantly. The Australian native caught my attention when she sang Lesley Gore’s hit ‘You Don't Own Me.’ From there I looked her up online and found out that she released her debut album FMA this pass summer.
Grace’s sound is quintessentially soul. While her other songs don’t seem to get as much acclaim as ‘You Don’t Own Me’ she does have some sleeper hits on her album. Songs like ‘How To Love Me’ and ‘Coffee’ are among my favorites.
Her album FMA displays the range of emotion with each song on the album. She can easily be added to a playlist with Sade, Adele, Alessia Cara, Yuna and Foxes.
She is a rare talent that deserves a chance her album does show that there is promise of growth.
