Frieze Art Fair 2014 Randalls Island

The Frieze Art Fair has become New York’s (most) favorite art fair, edging out the older Armory Show. I’m not sure why critics praise Frieze over the Armory, same galleries, same artists, same art world… same sh*t different day?

What can be said about the preference for Frieze is that its location is a helluva lot better, its a excursion to a remote location, a treat in this cluster-eff of a city. When would one ever go to Randalls Isl otherwise? Also the layout of the cubicles under the white tent feels much more roomie and airy. And if its one thing you need when presenting or being presented with an onslaught of art is some breathing room.

I think its just much more enjoyable to view art in this situation (Its about the architecture!) We actually didn’t even make it through the entire Fair! But our choice bits include works by Olafur Eliasson, Ana Mandieta, Yoko Ono, Sylvie Fleury, Rirkrit Tiravanija, and many more…
