On view at the International Center of Photography (ICP) is photographer Christer Strömholm works, Les Amies de Place Blanche a series of photographs of transwomen who lived in the red light district of Paris between the 1950s and 1970s. Christer arrived in Paris and stayed at the Hotel Place Blanche, home to a group of young sex workers. He spent the next 20 yrs documenting his time living among them.

Christer, while a respected photographer in Europe and considdered one of the pioneers of contemporary photography in Sweden, was not well known in the States. Patricia gives us a tour of the first show of Christer’s works in the US, at the ICP.
