You a yankee queer who likes a good hoedown?
You a yankee queer who likes a good hoedown? Well lucky you because the grrrls at Riot Grrrl are bringing some southern comfort to north Brooklyn. Get yer gingham ready for the Gay ole Opry, the first ever queer country music festival!
Four bands who all fall into the queer country/folk/Americana genre will bring a bounce in your (two) step:
Nervous but Excited (who have opened for Ani DiFranco and are one of Amy Ray’s personal favorites),
My Gay Banjo (just back from SXSW &GBGG)
The night will end with two stepping, and a queer country fashion show produced by Dapper Q and styled & outfitted by Brooklyn Dry Goods (queer owned company that focuses on vintage clothing).
This is something you really don’t want to miss, even if you don’t sport a ten gallon hat.
The Gay ol Opry, on the 7th, at 7pm, for $7:
Public Assembly (70 N 6th) in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, Get there early to get in!
