Its that time again, when the master of Showbiz, Mr Murray Hill presents one of the biggest beauty, handsome Talent Contests of all time—putting the queer into the year—Mr Transman 2011!
Mr Murray Hill, known as one of the finest producers of Queer entertainment in the world, launched the first ever LGBTQIA beauty pageant, Miss LEZ going back almost a decade, and now his second annual Mr Transman contest continues the tradition of pushing boundaries and good behavior. Miss LEZ and Mr. Transman have become launch pads for emerging performers and aspiring bohemians. Last year’s Transman winner, Kit Yan, went on to star in the HBO documentary “East of Main Street: Asians Aloud.”
Bringing together queer luminaries from between, beneath, and beyond the sub-culture/s Mr Transman has attracted an esteemed panel of judges including Jennie Livingston, the famed director of Paris is Burning and Silas Howard formerly of Tribe 8 and director of By Hook or By Crook. And this event will no doubt bring in the who’s who of downtown and the boroughs. Its the one night on the queer calendar you don’t want to miss, even if it is on a school night.
So lets meet this year’s contestants:
SEBASTIAN “JUS” FLOWERS
is a native Brooklynite, born of Belizean and Honduran parents. He is a trans-identified filmmaker, exhibitionist, founder of Queer Brown Porn, as well as a partner and DJ of Bklyn Boihood.
is a self-proclaimed fagatron, and snack-king, Topher loves cupcakes, snuggling, furry animals, and other odds and ends… He’s a world-renowned, highly-sought after, hairstylist and magazine cover model.
is a dive-bar diving, trash talking, queercore harmonica playing enthusiast. He is a beastly but not a dangerous dare-devil.
Ze is a makeup-wearing, hyper-feminine, female-assigned, male-centered, gender-fucked androgyne with a passion for facial hair and women’s shoes.
TEDDY B GLAZE
was born and bred in New Jersey but has no Jersey pride. He aspires to hipsterdom but is cursed by too much un-ironic love for Michael Bolton and Brooks Brothers catalogs. He is also a champion bagel maker.
