Go Brooklyn Art: Christopher Clary and John Hanning

Today Go Brooklyn featured artists are John Hanning and Christopher Clary.

Today Go Brooklyn featured artists are John Hanning and Christopher Clary.

Hanning’s works consist of mixed-media, found-objects and collage dealing with a boy-hood growing up in the south and living with HIV. Inspired by 1980’s video games specifically the classic “Pac-Man,” in which the player moves through maze-like alleys, Hanning takes the viewer on a journey of personal stylized vignettes.

John’s studio is located in the Bed-Sty neighborhood of Brooklyn.

Christopher Clary takes his references from the digital-social world. Clary has been collecting digital images of men for the last 20 years, images that are self-constructed like those posted on personal profile pages of social or dating networks. Clary exploits the fantasy and desire that these images tease out of the viewer by creating wall paper, poster sized prints and installation.

Last year Christopher was nominated for Discovery Prize at the 2011 Rencontres d’Arles, France. visit his studio in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.
