Founded by Sarah East Johnson ten years ago, LAVA has performed at the Joyce Theater in New York, Mass MoCA, the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, as wells as a myriad small and large venues across the country. Johnson looks at her company as a social, environmental, communal experience with her studio in Brooklyn open to the public for acrobatic classes for all ages. Ever wanted to learn to do a handstand? LAVA’s your place.
Next week LAVA opens their 10th year anniversary show at Dixon Place. The team has selected their favorite pieces over the years, so if you haven’t seen them yet this is definitely the show to see.
