German-born performance artist Emely Neu in collaboration with members of Pussy Riot have launched a new book, “Let’s Start A Pussy Riot.” The book is inspired by the events that have lead to the arrest of Pussy Riot in Russia and is dedicated to advancing the ideas of feminism, LGBTQ rights, freedom of speech and environmental activism.

The first half of the book provides a brief history of Pussy Riot, which includes their manifesto, court statements, and other documents. The second half comprises of creative responses from artists and musicians such as Yoko Ono, Jenny Holzer, Judy Chicago, Kara Walker, the Knife, Bobby Conn, Robyn, Bianca Casady, Antony Hegarty, The Feminist Playing Cards and over 70 others. Originally Emely Neu began with a mini-festival to raise funds for the detained women, and then started a blog for the public to submit artworks.

The book was lauched last week in London at Meltdown Festival curated by Yoko Ono and published through Rough Trade. All profits from the book will go to the Pussy Riot cause. You can get more info on their facebook page. A few sample pages below:
