Performance legend Peggy Shaw’s latest show, “Ruff,” is on a two week run at La MaMa in New York. “Ruff,” which debuted last year during PS 122’s Coil Festival, is co-written and directed by Shaw’s long tine creative and life partner Lois Weaver.

This show is a multimedia stream of consciousness narrative that takes the audience through the Shaw’s life from childhood, as she recalls it, after recovering from a stroke she suffered in 2011. This creates a narrative that jumps from memory to memory lapse, to reflection and insight. Shaw’s “Ruff” is an unflinching and humors look at age and mortality, and from what we can gather illness and maturity only sharpens your wit while easing your mind.
