Coming up this Wensday is Velvetpark‘s latest installment of our new reading series. Curated by writer Ben Nadler, readings and performermances by Catherine Tung, Corey Eastwood, Hilly Eye, Josh Gardner, and Dandelion Fiction (Daniel Fishkin) who will all be relating to the theme, “The Limits of Communication.”
This reading will take place at Three of Cups in the East Village; 83 First Avenue @ Fifth Street, NYC. Reading begins at 7:30. Wednesday May 15th.
Ben Nadler is the author of the novel, Harvitz, As To War (Iron Diesel Press, 2011), and the poetry chapbook, The Men Who Work Under The Ground (Keep This Bag Away From Children Press, 2012).
His writing has appeared in publications such as Occupy Writers, Jewish Fiction, Fairy Tale Review, and The Rumpus. He teaches at The City College of New York.
Corey Eastwood is a local writer and bookseller. He co-owns the used bookstores Book Thug Nation in Williamsburg and Human Relations in Bushwick.
His work has appeared in a number of journals including The Brooklyn Rail, Dark Sky Magazine and Story Chord.
Catherine Tung‘s fiction, nonfiction, and musical curations have appeared in Vol. 1 Brooklyn, Tin House, The Rumpus, Granta.com, and Publishers Weekly.
She plays drums in the noise-pop duo Hilly Eye and is on the editorial staff at Vintage Anchor.
Josh Gardner is a web writer and editor whose byline has appeared on such sites as The Daily Mail, Logo’s NewNowNext blog, ABCnews.com, Backstage, and Keep This Bag Away From Children, among others.
He’s an MFA candidate at CUNY City College and currently at work on his thesis, part of a novel about some gay guys finding humor within the gloom of Appalachia.
Dandelion Fiction / Daniel Fishkin’s ears are ringing. Composer, sound artist, and instrument builder. Completely ambivalent about music. Daniel studied with composer Maryanne Amacher and with multi-instrumentalist Mark Stewart (Bang-on-a-Can, Paul Simon).
Daniel currently teaches courses in analog synthesis at Bard College, and classes in electronics for broad age ranges at institutions such as 3rd Ward and Beam Camp (NYC). He is currently pursuing an MA in composition from Wesleyan University.
